Provisional Universal Digital Accessibility Statement (AAA)
Introduction
At Fred. Olsen Express, we are committed to ensuring digital accessibility for everyone. We continuously work to make our digital services accessible and usable by all users, regardless of their abilities, age or personal circumstances.
This Accessibility Statement is based on the latest version of the harmonised European standard EN 301 549, the European standard for digital accessibility approved by the European Commission. This standard sets out accessibility requirements for information and communication technology products and services.
This statement applies to the Fred. Olsen Express application in its Android, iOS and web versions (www.fredolsen.es), excluding embedded content originating from external domains. However, Fred. Olsen Express and its third-party providers remain actively committed to improving the accessibility of external content included within its digital services, with the aim of providing the most inclusive digital experience possible.
Our aim is to continuously identify, monitor and remove accessibility barriers in order to provide an inclusive and seamless experience for all users.
Beyond regulatory compliance, Fred. Olsen Express strives to exceed legal accessibility requirements. We are committed to achieving the highest accessibility standards, pursuing AAA conformance where feasible, continuously improving the usability of our digital products and obtaining certifications that demonstrate our commitment to accessibility excellence.
To achieve this ambitious goal, we have implemented a comprehensive digital accessibility programme, including corrective measures such as specialised training for our teams, accessibility assessment and continuous improvement processes, and proactive initiatives across our websites and mobile applications, with the ultimate objective of delivering a truly universal and inclusive digital experience.
Accessibility Standards and Measures
Fred. Olsen Express follows the EN 301 549 standard to ensure the accessibility of its digital services. Some of the measures implemented to improve accessibility include:
For iOS / Android:
(11.1.3.1) Progressive improvements are being made to the software to ensure that the semantic structure (headings, lists and content regions) can be correctly interpreted by assistive technologies. This requirement applies to both open and closed functionality, with procedures adapted accordingly.
(11.2.1.1) The software is being adjusted to ensure that all interactive elements can be fully operated using a keyboard. Different verification procedures may apply depending on whether the functionality is open or closed.
(11.1.3.4) Improvements are being implemented to ensure that the software adapts appropriately to device orientation, maintaining usability in both portrait and landscape modes. This requirement is assessed regardless of the type of functionality involved.
(11.1.4.4) The software is undergoing visual and structural redesign to allow text resizing up to 200% without loss of information or functionality. This requirement is assessed differently depending on whether the software provides open or closed functionality.
(11.1.4.10) Work is underway to ensure that content automatically reflows when text size is increased, without requiring unnecessary horizontal or vertical scrolling. This requirement applies with slight variations depending on the type of interface.
(11.4.1.2) The software is being thoroughly reviewed to ensure that all user interface elements have an accessible name, a correctly defined function, and clear communication of states and values. This criterion applies to open functionality and is adapted where closed environments are involved.
(11.4.1.3) Mechanisms are being implemented to ensure that dynamic messages are correctly announced by screen readers. This includes error notifications, confirmations and automatic status changes, particularly within open environments.
For the website:
(9.1.1.1) A comprehensive review of all meaningful images is being carried out to ensure that appropriate alternative text (alt text) is provided, making visual information accessible to people with visual impairments.
(9.1.3.1) Structural elements such as headings, field groups, lists and tables are being audited to verify that visual relationships are also correctly represented in the underlying code.
(9.1.4.1) Additional visual indicators, such as underlining, icons or explanatory text, are being added so that colour is not the sole means of conveying information.
(9.1.4.3) Automated and manual tools are being used to verify that text-to-background contrast meets the minimum requirements necessary to ensure readability.
(9.1.4.4) Checks are being undertaken to ensure that content can be enlarged up to 200% using browser functionality without loss of information or functionality.
(9.2.4.4) Link text is being improved to make it more descriptive and understandable without requiring additional context.
(9.4.1.2) Work is ongoing to improve the semantic accessibility of all custom components, ensuring that they correctly communicate their role, state and value to assistive technologies.
